Reflections

Today I am writing about reflections of my pets and myself This photo is of our families' beloved Anubis. He passed away recently and nearly broke all of our hearts! Anubis is a Basenji breed which most people know as the barkless dog. He was and still is special in our hearts! This is a wonderful breed of dog for a family with children as they have the energy of a two year old child but also have the attitude! They are very distructive!!!! Until you own one you can not understand how much they can get into or destroy! I lost pillows, a table, curtains and several expensive toys....They are like owning 10 puppies at once! A basenji's goal in life is to out-wit their owner and they are very good at it!!!!! They can climb and require at least an 8 foot fence if kept outside! When they are a house dog they must be crated every time you leave them....even to go to the bathroom unless you allow them in the bathroom with you! A basenji is a great training dog for families thinking of having children, they require your undivided attention and tons of it!

The breed originated in Africa where they were famous for hunting small game! The egyptians enjoyed their service and eventually they became the dog of the pharoahs! The egyptian relics picture the long eared canine at the foot of the pharoahs often!

We loved our Anubis and miss him greatly!

We have a cat and two birds but today I want this to be about Anubis!!!!

Here is a layout to remember my school days! I was so hip and in style in 1969 with my flowered shirt! My reflection on these days were about the bus ride 10 miles to school and living so far out in the country there were no other children to play with! This school held all twelve grades in one building and there were two grades per classroom! I have memories of the playground and the tallest slide I have ever seen even now! (It is a wonder children weren't killed falling off the top of it!) We played on a merry go round and a see saw! I have memories of my book bag! It was black with wellow and orange flowers on it! Looking back, it was so thin that todays' school children couldn't carry everything in it! I only went to this school for a few months as we moved out of state....but I have pleasant memories from there! The school has been torn down and I wish I had more photos to accompany this one!
